ecidely well known due to the "Vox-Series", on television: Sir William Feilding. Five minutes away from the Bluefields Police Station Wille enjoys a view from his balcony that is grander than the one you will also enjoy from Schafston. Royalty has responsibility. |

Having lived on Jamaica for many years, once in awhile here, once in awhile there, William Feilding is working on a new book about Greathouses. There is plenty of subject matter scattered around the island... and these he renders. Armed with paint brushes and easel, he travels from plantation villa to plantation villa and captures the once elegant and rich, now all too often run down, twisted by wind and threatening to fall villas on Jamaica. All of these ghost houses are being drawn up for prosperity and shall become available for all in a soon to be released book. Willie's Houses of Ghosts One afternoon or evening with Willi means attentively enjoying thousands of stories, hearing all sorts of crazy experiences with the crazy Jamaicans or with the equally mental case members of high society. For example as Willie tells it while receiving a haircut in New York, he requested a short hairstyle and not one of those Rolling Stone hairdos... when from the next hairdresser's cubicle the voice of Mick Jagger snarled: "Hey man, I heard that!" |
For many years Willi traveled with Countryman, a Jamaican "Flimstar" (ah, already learning another word of Patois!). A book was also created from this time period with drawings from which in good time a film should be released. This points out another particular characteristic of the island: There are not only Blacks, Whites and Chinese, there are a handful of Indians and such an Indian (from India), is Countryman. People also speak of the many exotic beauties, that wander around Sav-la-Mar, when slavery was abolished, the slaves were replaced by cheap labor forces from India, who in turn begann to mix and mate with the former slaves to create yet another race of mankind. Thus the women of "Sav", thanks to their Asian influence, have the reputation of being the most beautiful on the island. The evening falls and one anedote lines up behind the next. In front of us the breathtaking site of the Caribbean Sea. Behind us on the walls are Rasta paintings, in the corner a bottle of rum with preserved Marijuana... |
